Heading out for a Winter Hike

Ah, winter in Boulder, Colorado. It's an unpredictable time of year, as a foot of snowfall one day can be followed up by temperatures in the 50s or even 60s the next. This year has been especially mild, and it feels like we've only had one or two decent snowfalls so far.

While many may enjoy the sight of snow-covered Flatirons, the plus side of a dry winter is the opportunity for more outdoor activities. Sure, you can head up to the mountains and hit the slopes, but what if you're not a big skier or rider, or you just don't have the time? For me, I like to get out and hike.

Hiking in and around Boulder in the winter months can be a great time - the trails are far less crowded, and it's a good way to get some exercise and sunshine. After hiking Royal Arch last week, I wrote an article on the Best Winter Hikes in Boulder. Check it out for some ideas.

What about you? What do you like to do for fun in the winter?
