Spring cleaning is a great time to update your household rules. There are a few months left before summer vacation and it's likely, your kids will be expecting new privileges as they're about to enter in a new grade. Parents everywhere will be asked to reconsider bedtimes, provide a bigger allowance and give more freedom with friends.
Spring can be a great time to really test if your child has matured enough to start handling new responsibilities. You can give your child the chance to show you he's older, wiser, and ready for added privileges in his life.
You can conduct a trial run by creating a behavior contract. This can give you an opportunity to see if he's really ready or if he still has some more growing and maturing to do before he can take on anything. And if he's not quite ready, give him opportunities to keep trying.
Check out these tips on how to create a child behavior contract and see if your child or teen can handle some new responsibilities.
