9 Facebook Security Settings to Update Now

When was the last time you checked or made any changes to your Facebook security settings? If your answer is, I don't remember, than you need to check them now!

I met a woman who uses Facebook for business but yet one of her friends tagged photos of her at a party consuming alcohol. Social drinking is not a crime but it can be perceived in the wrong way. She went to extreme of untagging the photo, making the friend remove the photos and unfriending the friend. If she had just updated her settings on things your friends can share about you and tag review features she would have avoided a lot of drama, and still had that friendship.

Before you go to extremes, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What information can your friends share about you on Facebook?
  2. Are you appearing in Facebook social ads?
  3. Which applications are authorized to work with your Facebook account?
  4. Have you used the remote sign-out option?
  5. How do you appear in search results?
  6. Did you know you can get a one-time password for accessing Facebook from a shared computer or public wifi?
  7. Have you made your past timeline posts accessible only to friends?
  8. Are your future Facebook posts protected?
  9. What can your friends post on your timeline or tag you with?

If you don't know the answer to any of the above questions, click here to learn how easy it is to update your settings.
