15th Annual Tree Climbing Competition

The 15th annual Tree Climbing Competition featured aerial rescues, delayed speed climbs and more. So what's an aerial rescue? Imagine seeing a dummy dangling from a tree simulating an injured climber. The rescuer must secure and get the distressed dummy down in less than five minutes.

The Georgia Arborist Association event took place in Gainesville and hoped to promote safety and education to the public. The unique recreational sport has gained momentum over the years with specialty schools popping up across the country.

But Atlanta is home to the first recreational tree climbing school, Tree Climbing International. The organization offers public and private climbing classes with kids as young as five and adults of all ages learning the ropes.
