Classic Ice Cream Flavors

For all the creative and crazy ice cream flavors that you can find, there is something comforting about the simple classics. My two favorite ice cream flavors are chocolate and strawberry. Chocolate ice cream is rich and sweet, while strawberry ice cream has a lighter feel to it and showcases ripe fruit. Put them together and you can make fun desserts, like an ice cream bombe.

I have simple recipes for both flavors that are egg-free and require no cooking. For an easy strawberry ice cream, just pulse some strawberries in a blender and add the other ingredients. My chocolate ice cream recipe doesn't even require that much equipment, as you can put it together with just a whisk. Having simple recipes like this means that you can put together homemade ice cream quickly, if you keep the bowl of your ice cream freezer stored in your freezer.

The basic ice cream flavors are important to master, because you can turn them into so many other flavors by adding extracts, mix-ins, or sauces. Two more recipes that will soon be posted are a quick and easy vanilla ice cream and a more sophisticated vanilla bean ice cream.
