To follow up on yesterday's orange sherbet recipe, I decided to tackle lime. Now, I love the flavor of lime desserts. Lemon isn't always my favorite, but there is something about lime that pairs so perfectly with the sweetness of sugar. I had a bottle of key lime juice in my fridge, plus a couple fresh limes, and needed to think of something to use it up.
That led me to make a batch of lime sherbet. While I love sorbet, I think I like sherbet even a little bit better. The combination of a sorbet base with a splash of dairy is great. I'm a sucker for a carton of rainbow sherbet from the store, but homemade wins out sometimes.
