Welcome to Classic Literature in Translation, one of the newest educational sites on About.com. And I mean "new" as in "just hit the web last week." There's already plenty for you to explore, including author profiles, study guides, and tie-ins to other About.com sites like Classic Literature and Fiction Writing. But, before you run off and have a look around, a bit about the site, its goals, and its future.
Classic Literature in Translation is designed to bring you everything you need to know about major international writers, about the best translations available, and about major traditions and ideas in world literature. Over the next few months, I'll be building up a collection of author biographies, and creating study guides for important books. If you want to wrap your head around Leo Tolstoy, or Dante, or The Stranger, this is the site for you.
There's more. I will be using this blog to comment on newly released books, and new debates about reading and writing. And I am also eager to hear your opinions and engineer this site to meet your needs. Let's start right now. Are there any features you would especially like to see?
