Last week, I got in line at the grocery store behind a lady who had a stack of about 35 paper coupons. Interestingly, that lady used to be me. Lately, I have been trying to focus solely on using mobile coupons to determine whether I can save the same amounts with mobile coupons as I did using paper coupons, so I tried the Coupon Sherpa app and was able to almost match my savings.
I've tried quite a few mobile couponing apps, and although some are better than others, they all seem to have some very useful features. The mobile grocery coupon aspect of this app is the most appealing thing I found about it, and it seems that my appreciation for mobile grocery coupons is not an isolated incident -- many others are using them as well.
An Oct. 31 Supermarket News article noted that 61% of Millenials and 58% of shoppers ages 36 to 65 used their phones as they grocery shopped.
These shoppers weren't solely loading digital coupons -- they were also comparing prices, making lists, texting, and researching products -- but the fact remains that supermarkets and phone go together like shopping carts and germs (but that's another article all together).
My experiment with Coupon Sherpa ended up being quite fruitful -- I saved 36% on my order by combining sales with the digital coupons that the app offered, making me a new devotee.
