I vaguely recall the days where my phone would release the familiar "ding" sound indicating I had a text message and the text would actually be from a friend or family member. Nowadays, that sound usually indicates that I've received a coupon from one of my many text club memberships.
The beauty of the text clubs is that all I have to do is text a code to the retailer's number and I start receiving coupons (typically between one and six per month) that are exclusive for club members. There is no cost to join, and the coupons are usually for great offers.
For instance, last week I got a free sandwich at Burger King, a 30% discount at American Eagle Outfitters, and $5.00 off at Dollar General, all thanks to text messages I received through my club memberships.
