First, there were Christmas sales. Then, shoppers benefited from "After Christmas Sales," so stores could unload their excess merchandise. Then Abe Lincoln lookalikes made their way to television commercials to advertise President's Day Sales, and the "holiday deals" exploded after that. I'm not sure this was what was in mind when the concept of Memorial Day first arose, but the reality is that stores will be prepping for hordes of shoppers this weekend and will be offering significant Memorial Day deals on everything from food to clothes to music.
While some people pore over circulars and study deals online prior to these various holiday deals -- which jump directly past Easter, through July 4, followed by Labor Day, and various holidays in between -- others avoid the stores like the plague during these periods.
Of course, some people would rather peacefully watch television at home rather than fighting crowds at the stores over the holiday weekend. Which are you? A holiday store visitor or a holiday homebody? Let us know your preference by emailing us at mobilecopuoner@gmail.com.
