QUESTION: Hi. I have the door lock problem everyone seems to have with this model van.I am going to pull out the iod fuse but i am not sure if i will need the radio code for when i put it back.I do not no the code.Could you please tell me if only the clock needs resetting after removingor does the whole audio system need resetting. Thankyou Joel....
ANSWER: Hi Joel, The radio presets need power to be maintained. I believe that the door locks and the radio share the power from fuse 14 so that is likely going to be the IOD that you are looking to remove. I am not sure what you mean by the radio code however. QUESTION: Hi Again Roland. Thankyou for your prompt email.I am not sure if it is called a radio code or security code. When you disconnect the battery then no power goes to your car. When you reconnect you have to enter a 4 digit number into your audio system before it will work.I am just not sure if by taking out the iod fuse that my audio system loses complete power or if there is still some power going into it. Joel..
Hi Joel, I read the manuals and find no reference to such a theft security code in the Chrysler audio systems. Is yours from another manuafacturer? I would believe that the IOD fuse #14 removal will cancel the radio presets and very likely the security code too. You might check with the radio manufacturer if it is not Chrysler to see is if you can get the code based upon the serial number of the unit. If it is Chrysler, then ask at a dealer. If there is such a code it can probably be revised to whatever number you like using their diagnostic readout box. The only other way around this would be to remove the radio without unplugging it, then access the inside of the unit and jump a temporary 12v and ground to the incoming IOD pin and the chassis itself, then you can pull the plug off the radio. Then you should be able to remove the IOD fuse while still powering the memory of the radio while you affect repair of the door locks. Please 'rate' my answer. Thanks, Roland
