While the University of Colorado football team is coming off one of the worst seasons in school history, younger fans might be surprised to know it's actually a storied program.

The Buffaloes have enjoyed their share of national success since the team's inception in 1890, including a national championship and Heisman trophy. And of course, CU boasts one of the best live mascots in the country: Ralphie the buffalo.

With new head coach Mike MacIntyre at the helm, it will be interesting to see how the Buffs fare this fall.
