When it comes to parenting, there's advice all over the place. The internet has led to everyone thinking they have a lot to say about a lot of things. And of course, there's lots of people who want to talk about their kids and parenting.
With so much advice out there, how do you know what to do? Turn to one website and it says to go ahead and spank your child. Turn to another website and it says spanking causes mental illness.
The same goes for consequences. One website will say to talk to kids about their choices. The next website says to give them a pretty harsh punishment. Some people think kids need more discipline. Some people think society has gone way too far when it comes to discipline.
So who do you believe? Well, I decided to ask some of the nation's top experts about what one piece of advice they would offer to parents if they could only give them one parenting tip. I got lots of interesting answers from a variety of professionals that had a lot to say.
Some of these experts work as psychologists in private practice. Others have authored books. And some provide in-home parenting support (supernanny style). They all had great advice and excellent tips and many of them said just how difficult it was to come up with their top parenting tip.
