A 4-year-old child in Britain has been diagnosed with an iPad addiction. That's beyond disturbing. Luckily, she's receiving treatment.

The child spends about four hours per day using her iPad and she's been using it for the past year. Her parents report that she becomes very agitated and can't calm down when her iPad is taken away from her. Her parents grew concerned as she became increasingly dependent on the iPad over the past year.

If anyone heard this story just a few years ago it would have sounded like something from a science fiction movie. A child who can't even read is addicted to a computer? Apparently this is the world we live in these days.

It's more important than ever to set limits with children, especially when it comes to things like technology. Anything that isn't used in moderation can become unhealthy. This is true with food, technology or even work.

4-year-old children shouldn't be using technology for extended periods of time. Instead, they need consistent discipline that encourages healthy activities. Learn more about discipline strategies for 4 year olds and the 6 skills your discipline strategies should be teaching your 4-year-old.
