Many parents these days are turning to Nannycams to make sure their babysitter is doing a good job. Unfortunately, there are many babysitters out there who are down right dangerous.

News headlines are often filled with horror stories about babysitters who use corporal punishment or nannies who verbally abuse the children.

An Indiana mom recently made headlines when she used a nannycam to secretly videotape her babysitter. What she found was horrifying. Her child not only wasn't being cared for properly, but the babysitter was yelling at home and calling him names. The child was only 5 months old.

Many other parents are taking similar action to help ensure that their child is being well-cared for. Using a nannycam to secretly videotape the babysitter can provide some parents with relief while it can lead to other parents feeling horrified by what they see.

I recently interviewed Blythe Lipman, author of Help! My Toddler Came Without Instructions, to learn more about how parents can reduce the risk of hiring the wrong babysitter. Check out Blythe's suggestions for hiring a babysitter who shares your discipline philosophies.
