Halloween Candy- A Real Test in Your Child's Self-Discipline

With Halloween on the horizon, it's a great way to take a look at your child's self-discipline skills (as well as your own!). Although most experts agree that an occasional treat is fine, some kids have difficulty eating their Halloween candy in moderation.

It can be a great time to really examine how much your child is able to monitor his food intake on his own. If he's young, chances are you'll have to set rules about how much candy he can eat at a time. However, if you've got an older child who can't stop eating candy or who sneaks candy when you set limits, it might show he lacks a little self-discipline.

Although those delicious treats taste good, kids need to be able to eat them in moderation. Healthy eating habits is one area kids need to learn self-discipline. Check out the other areas where kids need to learn self-discipline.
