Facebook already doesn't let registered sex offenders create profiles, according to its Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. But Louisiana has taken it one step further to catch any sex offenders who may have slipped through the cracks.
Effective August 1, sex offenders must include the crime for which they were convicted, the jurisdiction of their conviction, a description of their physical characteristics and a residential address within their Facebook profile and other social networking profiles.
This law is the first of it's kind in the United States but I don't think it will be the last. With Facebook contemplating letting people under the age of 13 sign-up, safety and privacy could become an even bigger issue.
What do you think about the new law? Should every state adopt a similar law?
