By Guide Biography: Patrick Kennedy

August can be a long, lazy month. But for Classic Literature in Translation, August is going to be one of the busiest months of the year. With the start of school just weeks away, I'm going to be adding new features and more new features. And today, I'm giving you a preview.

For one, there are going to be some new kinds of long articles. Yes, I will still be posting biographies of major authors, and you'll be seeing new profiles of true literary giants--Dostoevsky, Baudelaire, Beckett, Kafka, and Borges--during the next week or two. But I'm also going to post study guides of major novels, poems, and short stories. If you want to master The Metamorphosis, or The Stranger, or Madame Bovary, check back soon.

In other words, I'll be giving you everything you need to succeed in your world lit courses this year. And then some extras. In addition to more high-quality articles, I'll be posting more and more images on our site. You'll have plenty of slideshows, fun facts, and quizzes at your disposal. From statues of great authors to magazine illustrations to political cartoons, you'll be able to find it all here.

I've got my work cut out for me, don't I? But I still have time to take a few requests. What are some things that you would like me to add to Classic Literature in Translation? Any site features you're dying to see? Any great authors who deserve attention? No, this won't be a lazy August for me.

Let the next stage begin!
