A/c and home wiring

Question

Please help. We were living in a house and used a portable a/c unit during the hottest days. Everything appeared fine. We did have problems with a breaker when a ceiling fan was installed but later took it back out and everything returned to norma. Now the owners claim we "destroyed their electrical" in the house and they had to install a new breaker box to fix it. Does thhis make any sense?

Ridiculous. If you didn't go in the breaker box yourself, there is NOTHING you could have done downstream that would have destroyed it. PERIOD. A new breaker box won't fix anything in the rest of the house. Have their electrician call me and I will personally tell him he is full of milarkey.
