Ash chute clogged

My chute is clogged approx. 2 feet from the base of the fireplace floor. I've tried to dislodge whatever is obstructing it by poking it with a metal rod, but so far no luck. Any suggestions?

Did you try poking from the bottom? if it is clogged and brakes free it might puff into the room, wear a mask, and protection and run a good shop vac. or I would have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have, they should be able to help.
