QuestionEdit

When I got up this morning the trunk of our 2008 Chrysler Sebring Touring vehicle as in the upright position. the top still in contact and positioned on. I tried the button to get the truck down like I was putting the top down but the truck still stays up and the top won't come down. The piece in the trunk is in the correct position to put the top down. The panel says malfunction of top. Is there a way that it could be reset so I can get the trunk down? I have no idea but it is not derivable as it sits. This is the first time it has happened to us. The top down button and the top up button does nothing, no sound or anything. The fuse looks good in the engine. what do I do. I don't have money to take it to a dealership. Thanks, Karen

AnswerEdit

Hi Karen, The '08 Sebring convertible is a vehicle that first appeared as a 2008 model and because my newest manuals are for the 2007 model year I don't have any details about it. I wonder though whether the trunk lid might be being held up due to a mechanically jammed gas support strut (the devices that support the lid in the up position). I do have some pages from the '06 and '07 manuals which show how to remove those supports if you would like to do that in the hope that would allow the lid to go down. If you want those pages let me know your email address and I'll send them as an attachment to an email. To share your address with me you need to send a NEW question (not a follow-up) and click on the box to make it PRIVATE. Then in the text of the question list your email address. Please 'rate' my answer (see below). Thanks,

Roland
