Converting gas fireplace to wood burning

I have Heatolator gas fireplace Model # HB42AI. Can I convert my fireplace to a wood burning? And if so, who should I contact for estimates on the job?

Answer

If the fireplace was originally designed for burning solid fuel, then yes. Look for a data plate inside the fireplace, typically on the right side interior of the fireplace.

If it says approved for use with solid fuel, then I recommend you contact a local CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep to do a Level 2 inspection to confirm.
