Excel macro to loop through a particular column

can you please help me in figuring out the solution for my problem.

My problem is to loop through a particular column say for eg "State" upon finding the specified state(eg.IL) i need to get the row number of the corresponding cell.

Sorry I am not a macro expert and I have no idea how to include your need in a macro. I suggest you reask the queastion of another allexperts person and check the resumes for macro expertise. I'm sure you can find someone who will get you a good answer.
