Formula to delete text

Question

In a colum I have verbage after an(*) that I want deleted, the information is in column J all the way down. Can you give me a formula to dlete it.

I am not sure what you want in way of a formula, but, a procedure to accomplish the replacement would be to

select the column On the Home tab, find and select (way to the right) then Replace

The tricky part is that to replace everything after an asterisk you need to replace

~**

with

The ~ before the first asterisk means that the asterisk is really to mean and asterisk, not a wild character. Second * is the wild card. For the replacement input, the ~ is not necessary; an * will be plugged in; leaving the cell contents the same except for every thing after the * being gone.
