Question

I have an old lapel watch that belonged to my mother in law. It was purchased at a pawn shop at least 65 years ago. On the face it says Governor. Inside the name Wadsworth, Referee Quality. 15 jewele Ser. # 4774613. It isn't working. I wondered if it was worth repairing. Any info would be appreciated.

Answer

I am not familiar with this watch company.

Regarding whether it is worth getting repaired:

THat is really a personal decision and it generally comes down to the sentimental value. That alone might make it worth it, even if financially it is not.

Take it to an antique dealer and ask them the value. After a physical inspection, they can give you a ball park value. Figure that you will need to spend at least $80 to have it repaired, assuming there are no parts necessary (just a cleaning).
