QuestionEdit

Trying to locate this part on the vehicle. It is not behind the glove box as some manuals show. No power going to the fuel pump so assuming this is the part that needs to be replaced.

Thank you for any insight you may have.

AnswerEdit

Hi Randy, In the '84 manual the fuel pump relay is shown to be on the right side cowl panel, just in front of the front door opening, high up on the panel (i.e., just below the place where the door opening bends and becomes the A-pillar). The power for the pump comes from fuse 16 (20 amp) which then goes to the relay which is controlled by the power module. So verify that the fuse is good and slso be aware that the relay will not close unless the logic module 'sees' that the engine is turning over and it thus tells the fuel pump relay to close its switch points. The logic module may not be getting the rotational sensor signal it is looking for so that may be why the relay is not passing current to the fuel pump. This is a safety circuit to prevent the fuel pump from running unless the engine is running. If this is the case you would also find that you don't have spark as well. Please 'rate' my answer (see below). Thanks, Roland
