QuestionEdit

QUESTION: hi i was just wondering how to get my kitten to syop biting she is about 2 months old

ANSWER: When you play with her, don't use your hands. Cats bite and scratch in play because it simulates fighting and is a survival tool. Use toys only to play with her and don't let he r bite or claw you. When she does, tell her gently, but firmly. "No Bites" If she is all riled up and biting you-remove her to another room and leave her alone in there for a few minutes with the door closed. She will calm down. Then hold her and be very gently with her. When my daughter's cat was young she played rough with her and used her hands, even though I told her not to. Now, Zinny will bite her but not me. I wouldn't put up with it and did the above things I mentioned. So she plays nice with me now at 5 yrs old, but she bites my daughter who really owns her. She lives with me however. So be gentle, use ropes and cat toys from the store to play with her but not your hands.

QUESTION: how long do u think ill take and she always chases my feet and bites them even when i say no and right afer i take her out of the room she just keeps biting my feet she is a female

ANSWER: I don't know how she can still bite your feet if you put her in a different room and close the door. You need to leave her alone so she knows what she did was wrong. You cannot encourage her to play and bite and then punish her. You have to be persistent and it can take a few months. As she gets older you have to keep this training up or it will be too late and she will think hands and feet are for playing and biting. If she chases your feet, you grab her gently but FIRMLY by the scruff of her neck and tell her NO!- then give her a time out in another room. You have to do this every time she bites you. I know this isn't easy but you will be glad you stuck to it. It doesn't matter if she is a female or male. This works for both sexes. Just be consistent and persistent in your telling her No and removing her from your sight. She will get the hint after a while.

QUESTION: no i ment that after i take her out of the room she still does the things she always does like bite myb feet

AnswerEdit

You just need to keep picking her up by the scruff, and telling her no, and putting her in another room for about ten minutes, EVERY TIME SHE DOES THIS.It gets old I know, but you HAVE to be Consistent for this to work Alyanna. You just have to keep being "Mama Cat" and disciplining her. She has already learned that it was ok to bite feet-now you are re-training her that it isn't ok and you have to just keep telling her NO! and putting her in a time out. When you put her back in the room over and over she will start to learn that it isn't a good idea to bite feet or she gets put into a lonely room. After a while she will stop since it's not fun for a kitten to be alone in a room for long. Don't take her out if she cries right away- set a timer and give her at least 10 minutes alone. Every time she comes out of the room and she bites you again, you have to pick her up again by the scruff of the neck and put her in the room. Over and over. Write to me in a week and let me know how much progress you have made. YOU have to do the work-or it won't work-but it will be worth it in the end.

QuestionEdit

my kitten has blood in his stole. it just come out today and i have no idea why. he is just a 5 week old baby and his mom got killed and he is not doing well like he is just giving up. he wont eat or play or do anything but lay there and stair at nothing.my mom doesn't think we should take it to a vet. she use to be one.but, what do you think i should do.?

AnswerEdit

If your Mom used to be a vet then she of all people should know that this cat is not thriving. Blood in the stool can indicate many things. If he hasn't been checked by a vet and wormed and vaccinated, then he needs to be seen by one right away. Shame on your mom for letting a little kitten suffer. If you are old enough to drive, then take him yourself. If you aren't, then please go ask a neighbor or a relative to take you and the kitty to see a vet as soon as you can. He may not be 'giving up' but if he is full of parasites and /or is sick with an infection, he won't last long. Please call the vets right away.
