Question

I have a Waltham 31 day chime wall clock. It is 15 to 20 minutes slow in time. How to set it to keep correct time?

Thank you Donna

Answer

If your clock has a pendulum you will find the bob, the round thing at the bottom, is held in place by a nut and screw arrangement. To speed the clock up you will need to raise the pendulum bob, you do this by turning the nut so that it move the bob up the pendulum rod. If your clock has no pendulum. look into the back of the clock you will find what is called a balance wheel and hair spring arrangement that swings back and forth. On this arrangement is a lever, you must move this lever towards the + sign. I suspect however that neither of these efforts would regulate your clock. At the rate your clock is loosing time, their is something mechanically wrong with it. You should take it to a qualified clock repair person in your area for evaluation.
