QuestionEdit

Fireplace

Recently bought a house and found that the previous owner had covered up the brick wall, which I think is quite nice, around the fireplace with wood panels. I was surprised to find a second smaller fire place, pictured on the right hand side, on the side wall of the main fireplace. I'm assuming it was used as some kind of cooker/indoor grill? The house was built in 1953 and I believe the kitchen was originally downstairs. Any idea what this is for sure? What it's called? for your help.

AnswerEdit

Hello Mark , it might be a "dutch oven" do not use either until you have a local Certified Chimney Sweep www.csia.org, (there you can look up by zip code to find one near you) take a first hand look at what you have they should be able to help.
