Question

I would greatly appreciate any help. I have a spreedsheet ¡®table¡¯ consisting of 26 columns and 755 rows with each row containing sorted groups of numbers, of variable length, in the range 1-71. Some rows contain values like 1, 5, 8, 33, and others values like 1, 29, 44, 45, 60, 62, 70 ¨C all ranged to the left. What I want to do is copy each number to another ¡®table¡¯ consisting of 71 columns and 755 rows so that each number remains in the same row, but occupies the appropriate column number.

Answer

If your original table starts in A1 (header), then set up your new 71-column table somewhere and in the top-left cell of this table, put this formula in: =IF(ISNA(MATCH(COLUMN(A1),2:2,0)),"",COLUMN(A1)) Fill this right 71 columns and down 755 rows. Calculate. Copy/Paste special values.
