Sumif

Question

1) how can I count all the numbers in column B, where values in column A begin with "yellow"?

ie

  A              B

1 yellow man 100 2 yellow ball 6 3 red ball 5 4 yellow 3 5 blue man 101

I need count of yellow things, 100+6+3

2) The same, but ...contain "yellow"

Your formula needs to look something like this--

+=SUMIF(A1:B100,"yellow"&"*",B1:B100)

The "*" is the wild card character that tellsthat the cell can have anything else after the"yellow".
