The hour strike is off

I have a black forest wall clock model W1 I purchased in Wiesbaden Germany at Heinz Stoll in 1970. We had a Hermle movement replacement in 2005. The clock has not been used for a few years. The clock is now working very well since I oiled it and have a balanced and level mounting. One problem I have is the hour strike is always one gong more than the hour. Our Howard Miller clock always resets itself but this one does not. Is it a matter of improper setting of the hands?

Jim, the hour hand was probably inadvertently moved when it was being set. Run the clock through the chimes until it strikes the hour. Count the number of strikes. Carefully slip the hour hand to the hour that struck. Then reset the time with the minute hand. That should do it.
