I heavily customize my toolbars and after a re-format of my PC, at times,is losing my customization and defaulting to the standard icon lineup. I found online that they are stored in an XLB file, but when I search My Computer, it does not find any such file. I also search a co-workers and he did not have one. I am using2003. Any thoughts?
You may have to include system or hidden files in your search. In Vista it's in: C:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel
in non-vista you can find it by putting this in the immediate window ?Application.StartupPath and you'd find it in there.
But once found, what are you going to do with that? It gets reset each time you exit excel, so you're not going to find your customizations there most likely anyway.
Best to customize by building it in code on the fly, but that's also moot because when you get to Xl2007 you're going to need to modify the ribbon
