QuestionEdit

I have an Appalachian 30 CD woodburning stove and a CF3860 factory built fireplace and chimney. I need to know if the two are compatible i.e. safe to operate together. I have looked at the manual for the stove and it indicates that it is "approved for masonry and factory built."

WITH A SOLID FUEL APPLIANCE."

How do I know if my chimney is "HT" or not?

I have noticed that other brands of woodburning stoves list the fireplaces/chimneys with which they are compatible. Is there a similar list for my stove?

AnswerEdit

The simplest thing to tell you is don't install your stove inside this factory built fireplace. The manufacture of your fireplace will tell you no. The fireplace chimney is only rated at 1700 degrees and HT chimney requires 2100. The issues are to many to list. I have personal knowledge of at least 20 fires related to conjoining these products and cant be more against it than I am. Best of luck to you and your family.
